  - Report of "World Space Week" from Bangladesh
  Bangladesh Astronomical Society (BAS) has contributed a report of
  "World Space Week" in Bangladesh to APRSAF News Mail.
The "World Space Week" celebration in Bangladesh was held on October 5
  and 6 in Enayetpur, a village that lies about 80 miles (130 km)
  northwest of Dhaka. This was the 10th anniversary of this event, and
  many people participated in several fun activities such as the Space Art
  Contest and the Water Rocket Launch Contest.

  3. Five satellites deployed from ISS
  //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  On October 4, five small satellites were successfully released from the
  Japanese Experiment Module (JEM), Kibo, using a Small Satellite Orbital
  Deployer (J-SSOD). J-SSOD and the five satellites were carried to the
  International Space Station (ISS) aboard JAXA's H-II Transfer Vehicle
  "KOUNOTORI" (HTV3), which was launched on July 21. Kibo's robotic arm
  moved J-SSOD from the JEM airlock to the deployment position, and then
  J-SSOD released the first two satellites, WE WISH and RAIKO, at Japanese
  Astronaut Hoshide's command. After that, the other three satellites,
  FITSAT-1, F-1, and TechEdSat, were deployed by remote control from the
  ground.

  4. GEMS workshop held in Korea
  //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
  The third international workshop on the Geostationary Environmental
  Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS) was held from October 8 to 10 in Seoul,
  South Korea. The workshop was organized by the National Institute of
  Environmental Research (NIER) of South Korea and the Korea Environmental
  Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI). At the event, the development
  of measuring devices for carbon dioxide, ozone, formaldehyde, and
  aerosol was discussed. The devices are scheduled to be launched in 2018
  aboard a GEO environmental satellite. In addition, the technology and
  development status of hardware and software for GEO environmental
  satellites, whose purpose is to monitor the emission and movement of
  climate-change-related substances and air pollutants, were reported and
  discussed.
