- Tsunami Workshop organized by Sentinel Asia in July
A tsunami workshop was organized by Sentinel Asia on July 2
and 3, 2012, at Sendai, Japan. The workshop had 25
participants from six countries in the Asia-Pacific region
and two international organizations, and it examined plans
for Sentinel Asia Tsunami Working Group activities, ahead of
its establishment. It was agreed that the working group
would focus on the following three areas, namely, tsunami
detection systems, warning transmission systems, and
  awareness/education/capacity building. Sentinel Asia will
establish its implementation plan for these three areas at
the next Joint Project Team Meeting (JPTM) to be held this
  autumn.

  4. LAPAN holds conference on RS in agriculture
  //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
On June 4, the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space
of Indonesia (LAPAN) held a conference on the utilization of
remote sensing technology for agriculture and food security

present owned by government agencies or institutes. LAPAN
will acquire satellite images covering the whole of
Indonesia and provide satellite data that can contribute to
agriculture and food security, as well as provide support in
