Tea and Sri Lanka

To many Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka is considered to be the best in the world so it?fs no surprise that the tea sector is the country?fs largest employer and is the world?fs third biggest producer. The unique flavour of the tea grown in Sri Lanka is a direct result of the climatic conditions of the plantation areas and has been exported for over a century. More recently the therapeutic and medicinal properties of tea have become high profile and it has been discovered that the worlds second favourite drink (besides water) is actually very healthy. Preparation is the key to a good brew and Sri Lankans take their tea drinking seriously brewing a beverage that is not only pleasing to the palate but also very refreshing indeed.
