Steve Campbell is the Assistant Director, International Partnerships at the Australian Space Agency, where he leads engagement with Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Southeast Asia, and previously managed the Agency's relationship with India. He also serves as the Agency's lead for the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF).

Since joining the Australian Space Agency in February 2022, Steve has been passionate about strengthening Australia's space sector through national and international collaboration. His work focuses on building strategic partnerships, advancing shared space priorities, and creating opportunities for industry, research, and government engagement.

During his time with the Agency, Steve has led or supported a range of significant international initiatives, including Australia's involvement in India's Gaganyaan Human Spaceflight Program, Australia-India free trade discussions, engagement under the International Space Investment (ISI) India Grant Program, and Agency participation in World Expo 2025 Osaka. He also coordinated the three-year loan of Japan's Ryugu asteroid sample to the Australian Space Discovery Centre in Adelaide, supported Japan's Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) Mission, and contributed to the inaugural Senior Officials Space Dialogue with Singapore.

Before joining the Australian Space Agency, Steve spent 20 years working across the Australian and South Australian Governments. His experience spans a diverse range of policy and international engagement areas, including agreements relating to migratory birds, Antarctic marine living resources, albatrosses and petrels, as well as domestic policy development in water allocation planning, managing land access for mineral resources, pastoral land management, biosecurity, and the green energy transition.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of South Australia and is an IAP2 (International Association for Public Participation) engagement professional. Steve has a wife and daughter, enjoys studying languages and is fluent in English and German.
