CSA Working Group
The Communication Satellite Applications Working Group (CSA WG) aims to address the issue of the digital divide, and popularize broadband services in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, the group seeks to promote new communication satellite application in areas, including tele- education, tele-medicine, and disaster management, while sharing information and experiences based on actual examples.
Activities
Creation of new applications and concepts of satellite communication for tele-education, tele-medicine, and disaster management in the Asia-Pacific region
- The Wideband InterNetworking Engineering Test and Demonstration Satellite (WINDS), satel- lite communications experiments, proposed at APRSAF, are currently underway. The CSA WG will continue these activities with regional cooperation, and aims to promote new applications and concepts of satellite communication for tele-education, tele-medicine, and disaster ma- nagement in the region.
Promotion of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) in the Asia-Pacific region
- The Satellite Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) is one of the key satellite applications, and now widely used in Asia-Pacific countries. Some countries study, develop, and opera- te their original satellite positioning systems. In APRSAF-17, the Multi-GNSS Demonstration Campaign is expected to be launched for the sustainable development of multi-GNSS applica- tions in the region, including the utilization of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS).
