2. [Symposium in Japan]
ALOS data utilization symposium
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ALOS Data Utilization Symposium was held on
June 22nd 2006 in Tokyo.
This was the first opportunity for presentators, both using and studying
satellite data, to give presentations about using real ALOS data.
In the Symposium JAXA reported on the current status
of ALOS and showed ALOS data taken upto the time
of the symposium. Presentations were given on various
areas of ALOS data utilization.
The Symposium also showed methods for general users
to use ALOS data, possibilities for expanding ALOS
data use, and so on.
More than 400 people who have an expectation of
ALOS data utilization participated in the symposium.
Details of the ALOS data can be obtained from the
following site.

5. The First Interview of an APRSAF member, on the topic of:
" Introduction of the JAXA DMSSO"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this, our first interview, we visited the Disaster
Management Support Systems Office (DMSSO), Satellite
Applications and Promotion Center of JAXA which has
been established on May 1st, 2006.
The DMSSO is a new organization which was created
as a result that JAXA reviewed its organizations
for the purpose of further realizing JAXA's objectives
effectively.
We interviewed Takashi MORIYAMA, Ph.D., Director
of DMSSO about the following topics:
Purpose and Role of DMSSO
Operation of the International Charter
